Rough Terrain Forklift

At construction sites and other types of locations where the surface is not paved, the rough terrain forklift is recommended. This type of forklift is utilized to shuttle materials around lumberyards.

These types of forklifts are truly meant for rough terrain. Nevertheless, the machinery is top heavy and should be carefully handled in rough places. The equipment must be level with all tires on the ground when lifting.

Steering is more challenging at higher speeds. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not set speed restrictions on forklifts. Then again, drivers are responsible for operating forklifts at a speed which is safe, especially if turning and driving on rough terrain.

Not raising a load whilst operating on an incline will prevent a tip over. The load must be on the machine's uphill drive when driving up a slope. If driving down a slope, backing down is a good safety practice.
