How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while attempting to perform tasks that could have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the equipment near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the basket of the lift, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
