The Liebherr family business was created in the year 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company initially gained fame from its mobile tower crane that was noted for its ease of assembly and affordability. It was upon this creation that the foundation of the company flourished under. These days, Liebherr has grown to become one of the world's leading manufacturers of construction machines. The company has also gained the reputation of being the accredited provider of technically innovative user-oriented products and services in various fields. The company has now become a "Group" working in each and every continent with over 130 companies and over 35,000 employees all around the world.
The Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units so as to guarantee a manageable operating size. These separate units operate independently. This particular set up enables the business the ability to be flexible to market signals and stay in tune with global competition. Moreover, having so many individual company units also keeps customer service operating at an optimum level and ensures customer proximity.
Liebherr has instituted the divisional control companies to be able to handle the management operations of sales and production for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group now has ten different product divisions.
The holding company of the Liebherr Group is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is located within Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. Currently, the family business is being managed in the second generation by Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr and his sister Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr. Since 2012, several of the active individual divisions have been represented by 3rd generation members of the family like: Stefanie Wohlfarth, Patricia Ruf, Sophie Albrecht and Jan Liebherr. These family members have been working hard together to help set up the course of the family business in the future. They are staying on top of large-scale industrial projects and residential buildings all around the world.
Hans Liebherr began this quest during 1949, with his first company within the tiny South-German town of Kirchdorf/Iller. These days, Kirchdorf is among over 20 major manufacturing sites of the Liebherr Group. They employ more than 1400 people in that specific workforce and are able to average an annual output of around 2800 wheeled excavators. The company has enjoyed immense growth and diversity since it first opened its doors. The Liebherr Group continues to remain really dedicated to engineering and implementing innovative designs. They have earned a positive and successful place within the material handling industry.
