In the year 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, as the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into production with light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Due to the economic slump during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers all over the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the equipment has to be driven significant distances, like for instance within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC machine.
Telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machinery are great for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These equipment deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
